Equilibrium

Equilibrium

” Equilibrium ” is my fourth solo sculpture exhibition. The previous one was at the Ark Gallery in 1997. This exhibition brings together 10 works with a variety of themes, forms and materials, which have little to do with one another. The works can be divided into two groups: one more akin to traditional sculpture and the other, called objects. This exhibition is a considerable 12-year period of work that I would call “Balance”.

Instead of a press release.

Balance is a set of elements in which each of the objects is visually consistent with each other.

On an A4 sheet of paper, the optical centre does not coincide with the physical centre, which is located exactly in the middle of the sheet. The optical centre of the sheet is the point to which the reader’s eyes are primarily directed, in mathematical terms: 3/8ths from the top of the sheet and 5/8ths from the bottom of the sheet. —

All nature strives for balance. The fluctuations in atmospheric pressure are equalised by the wind. Temperature differences are moderated by heat exchange. Wherever there is an excess potential of any energy, there are forces of equilibrium that seek to eliminate instability. We are used to these laws, so we don’t even ask why this should be so. Why does the law of equilibrium work? There is no answer to this question.

We are used to life having dark and light periods, to successes being replaced by failures. These are all manifestations of the law of equilibrium. After all, both success and failure are imbalances. Absolute equilibrium is when nothing happens at all, which it is not. At least no one has been able to see it. There are always fluctuations in the world: day to night, tide to tide, birth to death and so on. Even in a vacuum, particles are constantly being created and annihilated. —

The body’s equilibrium is stable when it returns to its original position after being slightly affected by an external force.

Problems must dissolve, not resolve, because there are no solutions. The only way to dissolve problems is to simply watch them appear and disappear. —

… harmony does not provide knowledge, but it cultivates balance, rhythm provides coherence…

It is not necessary to know something, because knowledge is also karma. To know much is karma too.

Only a person of zoological mindset can have the idea that production will bring happiness to man. True happiness is not determined by factors such as economic boom or bust, but by peace of mind.

Don’t let life run its course, and you’ll feel that life has become more fun. —

Thoughts are not born in one’s head, thoughts are registered in it. The brain cells of each body-spirit unit have their own particular frequency of vibration. For some it is high, for others it is low. There are no people with the same vibration frequency.

To not know something is an indication of great wisdom. —
